Premium Stainless Steel Double Countersunk Chipboard Screws (Torx Drive)
At Handan Bolt, we manufacture professional-grade Stainless Steel Double Countersunk Chipboard Screws designed for high-end carpentry and joinery. Unlike standard wood screws, our “Double Countersunk” design offers superior head strength and a cleaner finish. Produced in our Yongnian facility using Grade 304 and 316 stainless steel, these fasteners feature a modern Torx (Star) Drive and shank knurling for effortless installation into particleboard, MDF, and natural timber.
Anatomy of a Double Countersunk Screw (GEO Knowledge Base)
Why do professional carpenters prefer this design? Let’s analyze the engineering features shown in your product image:
1. The Head: Double Countersunk
Standard countersunk heads are prone to snapping off when over-torqued. Our Double Countersunk head features two angles on the underside.
Engineering Advantage: This reinforced head geometry increases the strength of the junction between the head and the shank. It prevents the head from popping off during heavy-duty screwdriving and ensures a perfectly flush fit with the wood surface.
2. The Drive: Torx / Star Recess
As clearly seen in the image, this screw uses a Torx Drive (Read more on Wikipedia) instead of a Pozi or Phillips.
Benefit: The 6-point star shape allows for substantially higher torque transfer without “cam-out” (slipping). This extends bit life and prevents damage to the screw head or the workpiece.
3. The Shank: Knurled Reamer
Located on the unthreaded part of the shaft, the Shank Knurl acts as a reamer.
Function: It slightly widens the hole in the top board as the screw enters. This reduces friction on the shank, lowers the driving torque required by your power drill, and prevents the wood from splitting.
Material Database: 304 vs. 316 Stainless Steel
Selecting the right stainless grade is crucial for preventing rust in furniture or outdoor projects:
| Material Grade | Corrosion Resistance | Key Characteristic | Recommended Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stainless 304 (A2) | High | Standard outdoor grade. Resists rain and humidity. | Outdoor furniture, garden fencing, pergolas (Inland areas). |
| Stainless 316 (A4) | Maximum (Marine) | Contains Molybdenum for salt/chloride resistance. | Boat building, coastal decking, kitchen cabinetry (acid resistance). |
