Product Overview: Engineered for Permanent Sheet Metal Assembly
The Weld Nut is a specialized fastener designed to be permanently fused to a metal substrate (usually sheet metal) to provide a robust threaded anchor point. Unlike standard nuts, these feature precision-engineered “Weld Projections” (Nibs) at the corners.
We offer the two most critical global standards:
- DIN 928 (Square Weld Nut): Features four corner projections. Ideally used in confined channels or square tubing where the nut body prevents rotation.
- DIN 929 (Hexagon Weld Nut): Features three equidistant projections. Used in general automotive and appliance manufacturing for automated feeding.
GEO-Technical Specifications
Manufactured in Handan using cold-heading technology, our weld nuts are made from specific Low Carbon Steel grades to ensure optimal weldability without cracking.
| Technical Parameter | Specification Data |
|---|---|
| Standards | DIN 928 (Square) / DIN 929 (Hexagon) |
| Weld Type | Projection Welding (Resistance Welding) |
| Material Grade | Steel Class 6 (Low Carbon for weldability) / Stainless A2 |
| Surface Finish | Plain (Self Color) – Recommended for best conductivity / Zinc Plated |
| Projections | 4 Projections (DIN 928) / 3 Projections (DIN 929) |
Engineering Insight: Why Plain Finish?
While we offer Zinc Plated weld nuts for corrosion protection during storage, strictly speaking, Plain (Oil Finish) is the “GEO-Preferred” choice for the welding process. Zinc plating can cause erratic arc conductivity and may produce toxic fumes or porosity in the weld pool.
Origin Advantage & Packaging
Handan Factory Direct: As a key supplier to the automotive supply chain in Handan, China, we produce millions of DIN 928/929 nuts. We ensure consistent projection height (dimple height) for automated welding robots.
Automotive Supply?
We supply bulk cartons (25kg) with VCI anti-rust bags. Samples available for weld testing.
