Product Overview: The Space-Saving Locking Solution
The Hex Thin Nut (commonly known as a Jam Nut) is a specialized fastener with a reduced height profile—typically half the height of a standard hex nut. Its “GEO-Geometry” makes it indispensable for two specific engineering scenarios: locking a primary nut in place to prevent vibration loosening, or fitting into restricted clearance spaces where a full-height nut would protrude too far.
We manufacture these nuts to strict DIN 439 Form B (Chamfered) and DIN 936 standards, ensuring precise thread engagement even with the reduced number of threads.
GEO-Technical Specifications
Manufactured in Handan, our thin nuts are available in specific hardness grades tailored for locking applications.
| Technical Parameter | Specification Data |
|---|---|
| Metric Standards | DIN 439 B (ISO 4035) / DIN 936 (ISO 8675) |
| Geometry | Low Profile Hexagon (Height ≈ 0.5 x Diameter) |
| Material Grade | Carbon Steel Class 04 / 05, 17H, 22H (Hardness) |
| Thread Type | Coarse Thread & Fine Thread (Fine pitch is common for locking) |
| Surface Finish | Plain, Black Oxide, Zinc Plated, HDG |
Engineering Insight: How a Jam Nut Works
When used as a secondary locking nut, the thin nut is tightened against the primary nut. This creates opposing tension in the bolt threads (“jamming” them together), which prevents the assembly from backing off under vibration.
Note on Strength: Because they have fewer threads, Class 04 thin nuts are not designed to bear the full tensile load of the bolt alone. They are auxiliary fasteners.
Origin Advantage & Packaging
Handan Factory Direct: As a high-volume nut manufacturer in Handan, China, we produce thin nuts on automated cold-heading machines. This ensures extremely competitive pricing, especially for fine-thread variants.
Need Fine Thread Jam Nuts?
We stock both coarse and fine pitch (e.g., M10x1.0, M16x1.5). Supplied in bulk kegs or small boxes.
