Product Overview: The Backbone of Structural Integrity
The Hardened Structural Flat Washer is not your average fastener. Designed for heavy steel construction, it is manufactured to strictly regulated “GEO-Standards” like ASTM F436 and DIN 6916.
Unlike standard washers which deform under high loads, these washers undergo a rigorous Heat Treatment (Quenching & Tempering) process. This ensures they are hard enough to withstand the immense clamping force of high-strength structural bolts (such as A325/A490 or Grade 10.9) without crushing, galling, or dishing.
GEO-Technical Specifications
We manufacture these washers in Handan with precise control over hardness and thickness to ensure load distribution in critical joints.
| Technical Parameter | Specification Data |
|---|---|
| US Standards | ASTM F436 / ASME B18.2.6 (Types 1 & 3) |
| Metric Standards | DIN 6916 (HV) / DIN 7989 (Steel Construction) / EN 14399 |
| Material Hardness | 38-45 HRC (Rockwell C) – Through Hardened |
| Material Grade | Medium Carbon Steel (Quenched & Tempered) |
| Surface Finish | Black Oxide (Plain) / Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG) |
Engineering Insight: Why Hardened?
Using a soft, regular washer with a high-strength bolt is dangerous. The washer will “dish” (collapse) into the bolt hole, causing a loss of pre-load tension. Our ASTM F436 washers provide a rigid, non-deforming surface that guarantees the bolt stays tight for the lifespan of the bridge or building.
